Blue Springs - Is It Worth Seeing? | Poland

Updated: Jun 26, 2023

Catch the PLANE & get INSANE

On Easter I decided to go from Czestochowa to Tomaszow Mazowiecki in Poland, to see the Blue Springs that I saw on the Podróże Po Kulturze blog (photo below)

and it looked quite interesting as a place to visit "by the way".

WHAT BLUE SPRINGS ARE?

Blue springs is an inanimate nature reserve located in the Pilica valley, near Lodz in Poland.

These are karst springs, one of the most interesting karst phenomena in Europe.

WHY ARE THE SPRINGS BLUE?

The water in the springs knocks out sand from the Jurassic limestones,

which makes the water surface look blue.

This combination with the diffused sunlight gives the blue color.

WHAT IS THE BEST TIME TO VISIT BLUE SPRINGS?

IMPORTANT!

Before going to Tomaszow Mazowiecki check the weather!

The color of the springs is strongly dependent on the weather,

brighter the sun shines, better it looks.

Unfortunately I went there in a cloudy day and I haven't seen any blue...

It looked like a regular lake. Nothing special...

The only blue I saw was the reflection of the sky.

I couldn't enjoy the views that the internet had shown me earlier.

Opposite to our trip to Turquoise Lake near Konin,

where the weather was perfect and the effect was WOW!

MY ADVICE

  • No need to worry about a parking space. There is a large, paid parking lot right in front of the Blue Springs.

  • Next to the parking lot there is the Pilica River Museum (unfortunately it was closed on Easter, so I couldn't visit it, but you can find out more by CLICKING HERE).

  • When in the area, it is also worth seeing The Bison Breeding Center and The Sulejowski Reservoir.

To answer the question: "Is it worth seeing Blue Springs?"

In my case, I drove for almost two hours and unfortunately I did not manage to see a single drop of a blue color... so... from what I saw on the internet it looks beautiful in a good weather but

I will not recommend driving only to see it. If you are passing by, then sure.
